I am so excited to begin my third year as Principal at Stratton Elementary! In case we have not had the privilege of meeting face-to-face, let me tell you a little about myself. I taught in Raleigh County for the past 14 years before becoming the Principal here at Stratton. I graduated from Concord with my BS in Elementary Education in 2003, and my first job was here at Stratton Elementary! Even then, the staff was so helpful and so supportive, and the students were truly unforgettable…I am so glad to see that has not changed! I earned my Masters in Reading and Literacy Coaching from Concord in 2007. After that, I decided to pursue National Board Certification in Early Education and achieved that in 2010. I was named Raleigh County Teacher of the Year in 2012, RESA I Exemplary Educator in 2013, and was a Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Math and Science teaching in 2014. I returned to Concord one last time to receive my Degree in Administration and Superintendency in 2016. As you can see, I greatly value education and hard work. My love of learning, and the understanding that I could forge a different path for myself, came from teachers pouring their time, wisdom and effort into helping me believe I could achieve something greater for myself. This is the goal of all true educators, I believe, and I am truly blessed to get to return to Stratton as administrator. I am looking forward to a great year!
